9th party part 3

:nine:
{part 3}

Today Eryn turned 9.

 First off there were presents......

Then she spent the morning with 5 of her special little friends at Robert Gordon Pottery.

They painted.......

Then drank hot chocolates.......

Then sang happy birthday and ate cake......

This was one of the easiest but by far the most colourful birthday cakes I have made.
 (Recipe found here )

Then it was over in a blink of an eye and it was time to say thank you to everyone with a party bag

Eryn was sad that it was over and wanted the party to last all day long!
Happy Birthday gorgeous girl of 9 xx

9th party part 2 chocolate spoons

:party:
{part 2}

Another treat for the party bags..

Chocolate spoons.

wrapped and ready to be placed into party bags.

I used 1 family block of cadbury milk chocolate and it made approx 14 spoons.
These are very easy to make and would make a great treat for Easter.
Just substitute the smarties for a little Easter egg (just wait for the chocolate to cool a little or else the Easter egg will melt)

:my creative space:
{party part1}
The hook and yarn are out again.

Simple crochet flowers on headbands that are being placed into party bags for some special little girls who are helping Eryn celebrate her 9th birthday on Saturday.

Eryn likes the grey flower

and Kels likes the red flower

Head over to  kootoyoo for more creative spaces
 While you are there take a look at Kirstys very funky lawn lounge.

new top

:new top:
{for Eryn}

I used one of Eryn's tops that she loves to wear and traced around it to make a pattern.

This is such an easy top to make as it is just one piece of fabric for the back and one piece for the front, no sleeves and you just gotta love that!

I added a ruffle to the neck line

used some elastic thread on the side seams

and voila, a new top.

Hope you all have a lovey weekend.
I am off to start sewing for Eryn's birthday next Saturday.

my creative space

:my creative space:

Painting painting painting....
This seems to be a common theme on this here blog at the moment.

Eryn's bedside tables were in need of a new colour as the pink really longer goes with her new bedroom.

Soooooooo, this

has now become this...

I think this is much better.

Once again there are oodles of creative spaces to check out at kootoyoo

hard rubbish

:more hard rubbish finds:

Here is another find from our local hard rubbish.

the perfect little chair for a desk in Kelsi's room

Here's a close up of the fabric as the main photo doesn't show it that well
{need to work on my photo taking :-)}

This time I tried my favourite new primer form this post in the spray can version and it worked brilliantly.

I then just gave the chair a couple of coats of white spray paint.

I will show you the desk next...

:my creative space:

This weeks creative space is all about advertisement.....
It involved some transfers sheets and a couple of plain white t-shirts.

My brother has just launched his new web site and we are helping him promote it.

Elementwater is not just a photography site,  it's also a community site.
There also just happens to be some great shots of the beaches and people of  Western Australia.

So why not pop over to elementwater and take a look!!!!

Of course you can always check out the crafting talent over at  http://www.kootoyoo.com/ too!

:hard rubbish:

You  just gotta love it when the hard rubbish flyer hits your mailbox.
Hard rubbish = great finds!

Eryn was in need of a new toy chest for her room.
This one was hidden under a mountain of "stuff"

after some sanding............

and paint, here she is.

I am thinking I will make a little cushion seat thingy for the top.
I am so happy with how the paint job turned out.

These are my 2 new painting best friends

I haven't used the Zinsser primer before but i do have to say it is pretty damn great.  It tells you that you don't have to pre sand but I did.
Adding the Penetrol to both the primer and the oil based paint helps eliminate brush strokes.  This really does work.  I added 15% Penetrol.  If you find that the brush strokes are still there just add a little more.
There are alternatives for water based paint if you prefer.
As this is a toy chest that will get a lot of wear I went for an oil based paint as I think they are more hardy.

I am heading back to the garage to add the last coat of paint to another hard rubbish find.
Happy Painting :-)

Eryn is modelling the hat for me but it actually fits an adult.

Please let me find some time to blog over the next week as I do have stuff to show..
